Dremel VersaTip:

I absolutely love this butane soldering iron. It is one of the most important tools I use and I use it in pretty much every project I do. I still own the original 8 years on, so it was well worth investing in. It comes in a good quality metal box that is very sturdy which keeps the tool and its accessories safe and tidy, everything is well padded. The lid makes a perfect cutting surface, especially when out and about at craft fairs.

The tool itself is extremely well made, it has a very sleek design and it is very nice to hold, not too bulky. Included in the set are several tips, (a hot knife, a soldering tip, a cutting knife, a hot blower nozzle, a reflector plate, a flat flame nozzle), solder wire and a soldering sponge + containers and a safety cap. I still have all the original accessories with mine even after all these years but replacement tips are also available to purchase separately if needed, including an additional pyrography set if wood-burning is your thing.

There are some great features, you are able to adjust the flame intensity using a slide, there is a unique safety switch that can be activated easily and quickly using just your thumb, but most importantly it´s a difficult design for children and you can lock the flame on by flicking a small switch.

The knife heats up pretty quickly from cold, it is hot enough to cut through paracord with ease in just 30 seconds, when I turn it off and on again after it has warmed up though, it is much quicker, about 15 seconds.

Changing to a different tip couldn´t be easier, even if it is still hot. A few turns with the small wrench included and it is off, I like to use the soldering pots which are also included to put the hot tips into whilst they cool down. You are able to attach another tip by carefully screwing on, tightening a little with the wrench. Very simple and quick which is handy if in the middle of a project.

Very easy to refill with standard butane lighter fluid.

Without any attachments connected, you are left with a very powerful mini blow torch, so it is a real versatile bit of kit to have around!

Not only have I used this for my crafting but for general jobs around the house.
